bynet is Teradata’s high-speed, fault-tolerant interconnect that links all nodes in a Teradata Database system to enable massively parallel processing. It provides reliable, low-latency message passing between Parsing Engines and Access Module Processors (AMPs), supporting point-to-point, multicast, and broadcast communication so data can be redistributed and coordinated efficiently across the platform.

Designed for scale and resilience, BYNET typically operates as dual, redundant networks (BYNET 0 and BYNET 1) to deliver continuous availability and balanced throughput. As systems grow, it maintains near-linear performance by efficiently routing messages, supporting ordered and unordered delivery, and helping merge sorted responses from multiple AMPs to the requesting process. Modern Teradata platforms implement BYNET as a software-defined layer over high-speed fabrics such as InfiniBand or Ethernet, preserving its communication semantics while leveraging contemporary hardware. The result is predictable performance, high availability, and efficient execution of complex analytic workloads at enterprise scale.

bynet is developed by Teradata and is used by 2 users of Software Informer. The most popular versions of this product among our users are: 2.7 and 3.0.
